Davide Luciano and Claudia Ficca created this awesome series called My Potholes that depicts different scenes on top of potholes in different cities.
If you haven't seen these animated gifs by Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg yet, you are in for a treat. These aren't your run of the mill early 90's gifs, they're more aptly called cinemagraphs by their creators. The idea for cinegraphs came up when the pair was preparing for Fashion Week. They wanted to tell more of a story than a single frame but didn't want the hassle of creating a video. I love the ones where you stare at the image, waiting to see what will happen. For more details about these awesome images, read the articles on Gawker and My Modern Metropolis. Don't forget to check out the rest of their amazing work on Tumblr.
Leave it to Annie Leibovitz to take create such a great re-imagining of a cult classic like The Wizard of Oz. This movie is held in such high regard that it would be hard to create a fitting tribute to it. Luckily for us, Annie took her shot at it and succeeded. She does a tremendous job of taking classic scenes from the movie and turning them into her own.
Here are some pretty nice landscape photos by Garry Schlatter. They are all considered his "Most Interesting" photos on Flickr. Many of them have a serene and contemplative feel to them. He definitely has a way of capturing the perfect light for his shots.
My favorite, is the moon shot which beautifully captures the moon and clouds even if it is slightly altered. It just has a wonderful feel to it, and I love the way the lights in the bottom right corner balance out the strong presence of the moon.
